The not for profit New York City Riding Academy was founded by Dr. George E. Blair in 1970 in Manhattan's Randall's Island Park, New York, New York 10035.
During the Academy's 55 years in existence it has served thousands of students and utilized thousands of hours in horseback riding instruction to students ranging in age from 5 years old and above. Dr. Blair and his distinguished equestrian colleagues at the Academy are all unpaid Volunteers. Dr. Blair has been riding horses, training horses and teaching students how to ride horses from beginners to dressage training for more than 80 years. Dr. Blair also served as an instructor and coach for children participating in the New York State Special Olympics for more than 30 years. Dr. Blair is a distinguished scholar and teacher with many earned and honorary degrees including a PhD. Dr Blair is a visionary equestrian and former Army Officer who has received many awards and special recognitions. Herein contained are four highlights of Dr. Blair's exceptional career: (1) The New York City "Light Of The World Award"; (2) selection as Who's Who In American Education; (3) New York City Television Channel 1 New Yorker Of The Week; and (4) a Humans of New York Selection; (5) Eagle Scout Award; and (6) Ethos Award.
