About Us

The NYC Riding Academy is a not for profit organization founded by Dr. George E. Blair in 1970 in Manhattan's Randall's Island Park.

For over 55 years, the program has served thousands of students in the New York City area, supported and run completely by volunteers.

A distinguished scholar, teacher, and mentor to many in our community, Dr. Blair received many awards and special recognitions. One of his most notable was founding the Black World Championship Rodeo, which performed for many years in Col. Charles Young Park in Harlem.
