The not for profit New York City Riding Academy, the last Horseback riding facility in the Borough of Manhattan, has been in continual operation for more than 31 years. It is located at One Wards Island, adjacent to the East 103rd Street Footbridge, New York, New York 10035.
Academy Program In Operation
The New York City Riding Academy’s basic 2017-18 Horseback Riding Programs are divided into two major segments: (1) off site equestrian teaching, community outreach and student recruitment programs, November 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018; and (2) on site horseback riding programs, April 1, 2018 to October 31, 2018. The Academy’s on site 2018 Horseback Riding Programs will consist of three interrelated components: (1) an individual and group horseback riding lessons component; (2) a horseback riding camp component; and (3) a School horseback riding component. The Academy onsite horseback riding programs will operate from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. daily.
Academy Horseback Riding Lessons Component
The Academy Horseback Riding Lessons Component has two major styles of horseback riding, English and Western. These two major styles of horseback riding are presented in beginners, intermediate, advanced and competitive instructional modalities for individuals and groups. The Academy’s Horseback Riding Lesson Component will operate from April 1, 2018 to October 31, 2018. Individual and group lessons are available in 30 minute and 60 minute packages.
Academy Horseback Riding Camp Component
The Academy Horseback Riding Camp Component will operate on a six hour per day five day per week basis for the months of June, July and August 2018. The basic Camp curriculum will include horseback riding lessons and competitions, tacking, grooming and barn management.
Academy School Horseback Riding Component
The Academy is offering an Introduction To Horses field trip and an After School Horseback Riding component. Field Trip and After School packages will be available from April 1, 2018 to October 28, 2018.
The Academy’s primary target population is New York City children 5 years of age and older who can significantly benefit from its horseback riding programs. Academy students will be carefully selected and provided with individual horseback riding plans to assist them to better achieve their stated horseback riding goals while attending the Academy. The Academy’s staff consists of highly qualified horseback riding instructors and support personnel. Academy Donations And In Kind Contributions
The not for profit New York City Riding Academy, the Borough of Manhattan’s last Horseback Riding Facility, welcomes financial donations and pledges. The Academy also welcomes in kind contributions such as horses, horse trailers, saddles, bridles and bits and vehicles. Financial donations and in kind contributions to the Academy are tax exempt to the extent of existing laws.
